Aloha Plenty from Stone and Maui Brewing gets approval
(Escondido, CA) – The collaboration beer between Stone Brewing, Maui Brewing, and homebrew champ, Ken Schmidt, got label approval this week. Info about Aloha Plenty first surfaced nearly four months ago so arrival date shouldn’t be that far away. That said, the brewery hasn’t come out yet with an official release date to my knowledge. For more on the brew, click back to my Aloha Plenty post from April. See the back label below (along with some news on Juxtaposition).
Terrapin Depth Charge named as Midnight Project Series Brew Two
(Athens, GA) – More info coming via newsletters. Word of the second (annual) rendition of the Midnight Project Series comes from Terrapin Brewery down in Georgia (damn, I’ve been giving them a lot of face time recently). Another beer to chalk up in the ‘collaboration’ category.
Reunion Beer ’09: A Beer for Hope
I believe this is the third year that Reunion Beer has been brewed; this time it is a Double White Ale. It will debut at Taco Mac locations this weekend. I’ve copied the information from the website below:
New Belgium Transatlantique, Le Fleur Misseur? now available
(Fort Collins, CO) – New Belgium Brewing has shipped out its two latest offerings in the Lips of Faith Series. There were a couple reviews for New Belgium Transatlantique Kriek early in the month though it appears that most stores in Colorado began receiving their allotment of the newly re-packaged ‘TK’ and Le Fleur, Misseur? within the last week. LFM debuted last year for New Belgium’s 15th anniversary though Transatlantique has a history going back to the early part of the decade.
According to New Belgium’s site, Transatlantique is “a spontaneously fermented lambic ale made with Polish cherries,” a beer crafted through a partnership with Continue reading

Press Releases: Collaborative Evil, Upland Schwarz, AHA NHC, Rewjewvenator
The label says it all doesn’t it?
Collaborative Evil returns (with nine breweries contributing this time instead of three like last year), Upland Schwarz announcement, AHA NHC 2009 sets some records, and a Rewjewvenator announcement (it came out in June but I never paid it any lip service).
If you’re interested in any of these topics, pay the Press Releases page a visit.
Collaborative Evil returns for 2009
Collaborate: to work jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor.
Collaborative Evil returns with more breweries and a bit of leeway. In 2008, three brewers decided to create a beer recipe and then brew it at their respective brewhouses. The beer a Strong Dark Belgian-inspired Ale brewed with Honey, and spices. Each brew had a unique ingredient Continue reading

Kern River Anniversary Ale now available
(Kernville, CA) – A quick note for those in/around Kernville (or more likely, Bakersfield?). Kern River Brewing has earned some top marks on Beer Advocate so far though there still aren’t many reviews. The brewery just released its third Anniversary Ale, a Belgian Tripel, in bombers and has posted the locations where folks can find it.
Valley Brew labels part deux
Valley Brew label approvals pouring in
(Stockton, CA) – Here is Part I of II because there are eight labels in total. Valley Brew has been well-known to locals for a long time though there is now a greater chance that word about this small brewery spreads with the introduction of bombers, bottled for the first time this month. Reference my earlier Valley Brew post for a little more info.
Three more below.

Laurelwood Wry Pale Ale now available
(Portland, OR) – Laurelwood Brewery sent out a newsletter this week that its Wry Pale Ale has debuted in 22 oz. bombers:
“A unique twist on a popular beer style- Wry Pale Ale recreates the classic American Pale Ale with just a touch of rye malt. A generous dose of Cascade and Amarillo hops and a bit of dry-hopping give this ale an originally-delicious taste.
5.6% ALC by Volume. 13º Plato O.G. 40 IBUs.”
You can probably find it at Belmont Station among others.
A Video Interview with Spike from Terrapin Beer Co.
As a follow-up to the Terrapin Hopsecutioner article, I was pointed to a fresh video interview of Brewmaster, Brian “Spike” Buckowski, that went into the brewery’s plans over the next couple months. Hopsecutioner gets a mention as well as Maggie’s Farmhouse Ale, and the re-introduction of Gamma Ray. Credit to videobeerreviews.com who also captured a tour of the brewery.
New stuff in Craft Beer Press Releases
Four new beers introduced: Clipper City Heavy Seas Prosit! and The Great Pumpkin, Summit Unchained Kolsch, and Full Sail Session Black Dark Lager.
And Oskar Blues Brewery plans to paint a giant Dales Pale Ale-style can on its silo and some neighbors aren’t too pleased w/ the idea of their town being known for a big beer can image. Oops. (The majority of folks are supporting the brewery though!).
See them all in Craft Beer Press Releases.
Clipper City to debut two more Heavy Seas beers
Set sail with the NEW Heavy Seas Bomber Series
BALTIMORE, MD – Clipper City Brewing Company, brewers of Heavy Seas, Oxford Organic, and Clipper City beers, is proud to announce the upcoming fall releases our Heavy Seas “Bomber Series.” The “Bomber Series” is an extension of the Heavy Seas product line with brews made in very limited release small batches, and bottled in 22 oz. bottles.
The new 22oz Heavy Seas Bomber Series began as a pet project of the Clipper City Heavy Seas brewers who created very small batch experiments to amuse the palates of folks who worked at the brewery. They quickly agreed that some of results were just too good to keep to themselves. This line is a true labor of love and the label art is even created by one of the brewers.
