Point Whole Hog Six-Hop IPA and Whole Hog Imperial Pilsner debut

STEVENS POINT, WI (April 29, 2009) – Going “whole hog” in the fast-growing craft beer market, the Stevens Point Brewery is introducing two new brews under the Whole Hog Limited Release Brewmaster’s Series label.

Whole Hog Six-Hop India Pale Ale and Whole Hog Imperial Pilsner are available in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles wherever Point beers are sold. Brewed in small batches, Whole Hog Six-Hop India Pale Ale and Whole Hog Imperial Pilsner will appeal to discerning craft-beer aficionados, according to Joe Martino, Point Brewery Managing Partner.

Fred Fest 2009 auctions going for $$$

Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 5pm PST, the 2009 Fred Fest auctions will close. Last year’s auctions drew some bids in excess of $500 (didn’t a bottle of Dave go for $700?). The leading bid for this year’s auction is $400 for the Midnight Sun lot featured above. Check out the auctions with pics here and make your bids here. Mikkeller Amarillo and Tomahawk join Single Hop Series

So far, we have seen three Single Hop beers from Mikkeller in the States: Cascade, Warrior, and Simcoe. Mikkeller Nugget and Nelson Sauvin are also due out soon. Now he’s got two more, #6 and #7, up his sleeve: Amarillo and Tomahawk.

Shiner Smokehaus debuts June 1

(Shiner, TX) – Spoetzel Brewery revealed earlier this week on its Facebook page that it has a new beer on the way this summer.

, a smoky Helles-style beer, will come out in 12 oz. bottles on June 1.

Word first surfaced on Beer Advocate a few weeks ago when a Spec’s representative revealed what was afoot at the brewery: a new mesquite-smoked beer. Smokehaus follows a resurgence in new releases from the brewery like Shiner Commemorator and Shiner Kosmos.

The Bruery will celebrate its 1st Anniversary on Saturday, May 16. Excerpt from the blog post about the beers available at the event:

“In addition to our year-round offerings, we’ll be releasing Papier, our anniversary ale. Papier is a Belgian-style Old Ale layered with complex flavors of dark fruit, vanilla, oak, and burnt sugar. This robust ale weighs in at 14.5% ABV and we think it’s the perfect beer to mark our first big milestone.

We’ll also be pouring Levud’s, which was our very first batch, as well as Melange #1, Humulus Ambre, Cuvee Juene, White Zin, and yes, for all you Melange lovers, #3 will be making an appearance!”

Pyramid Juggernaut releases this August

(Seattle, WA) – Another sneak peek at an upcoming beer this morning though this one will be out at the tail end of the summer. A rep from the brewery said, “

Pyramid Juggernaut

will be available in market August and September, and will start shipping in mid July.” More information will come out on this beer this summer, likely July, though for now, we know it is a 5.6% Red Ale. This will not be an “imperial” beer.

Also of note in the Seattle area this week is that Beer Week is set to kick off in the area this Thursday. Check out more info at the Seattle Beer Week website. Pike Brewing is releasing a new Double IPA to commemorate the event.

Short’s The Soft Parade coming in June

received label approval this week for its fourth bottle release to hit the mass Michigan market. The Soft Parade will arrive this summer, with the latest word being a Facebook note from the brewery that the ETA for the beer is June. The release of this beer comes a few months after the brewery’s first bottled beers hitting the mass Michigan market: HumaLupaLicious IPA, Bellaire Brown, and Pandemonium Pale Ale. So why the wait?
