Running blog: Beer Calendar Updates!

calendar-updates-2

It is much less painful to add a few new beers at a time with the new system so I hope to have a running blog post like this every weekend or two. Some of the calendar updates that I am making for this weekend are listed below:

Please help! I am looking for folks to help me clean up the calendar with the following info. Let’s keep this to bottled and canned beers. Draft beers are a whole different animal. All you have to do is post a comment! Thanks!

  • Beers on the calendar that have already been released that show ‘April’ or listed in a future month
  • Beers on the calendar that I show as having been released that weren’t released yet
  • Beers missing from the calendar altogether (pref. March and forward, don’t want to make updates to last year)
  • Breweries whose recurring seasonals I haven’t added yet

Weekend Updates (you may not actually see these posted ’til Sunday):

Beer Wars Movie Friday Wrap-up

[4/18 Update: Another review that I enjoyed reading, this one also from an industry veteran, All About Beer's Daniel Bradford.]

Hard to believe that word first spread about this movie less than two months ago. When I wrote my initial post about Beer Wars, I was hoping that this would be craft beer’s ’15 minutes’ in the national spotlight. Unfortunately, it trended on Twitter for a little while but that was about it.

Lagunitas A Little Sumpin Sumpin’ Ale coming soon

lagunitas-little-sumpin

(Petaluma, CA) – Given the brewery’s history of approving labels shortly before release, it would appear as though Lagunitas A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale is the brewery’s summer seasonal. The website, which has recently been updated a bit with more information on their beers shows the summer seasonal on the schedule as a May release. At 64 IBU and 7.3% ABV, this looks like it will be an IPA/Pale Ale but nothing confirmed…

Lagunitas 2009 Correction Ale is due this month.

Lastest Craft Beer Press Releases

brewers-association Most recent batch of press releases: two new Anniversary beers are coming in 2009! Boulder Flashback celebrates 30 years for the Colorado brewery while Widmer 84/09 celebrates 25 years for the Portland brewery. The Beer Institute issued a release last week that beer indirectly inputs nearly $200 billion into the U.S. economy each year. Impressive. Lastly, hot off the press, the Brewers Association announced its annual list of top 50 overall breweries and top 50 craft breweries on Monday. Kona Brewery jumped over a dozen spots in the overall top 50 from last year. Deschutes Brewery and Iron City Brewing jumped four spots, both closing in on the top 10.

You can see at all on the Craft Beer Press Releases page.

Craft Beer Releases Calendars Updated!

craft-beer-update

First update in a while for the beer calendar but I have it set up so that it should be a bit easier for me to update (goal is every two weeks). For that reason, it is VERY important that you hit me up in email, comments, or Twitter, etc. if you notice site performance issues this week!

Made most of my changes to April and May, some to March. I touched every month for a few changes…I will archive the last half of ’08 next weekend so you can see those releases again…

Huge thanks to PJ for helping me out this weekend. Check out his blog: Starting a Brewery.

Beer notes: Dark Lord shenanigans, North Coast Rasputin XII, and 5 more

3floyds-skull

Too much going on in this edition of Beer Notes but trying to pump out content before the holiday arrives. We cover seven breweries from all over here so let’s get started…

North Coast Barrel-aged Old Rasputin XII

The brewery will release Bourbon-Barrel Old Rasputin XII in late June. Both the barrel-aged and regular versions have earned A’s at Beer Advocate. The good news this time is that it won’t be brewery-only. North Coast is finally putting this one into distribution to the tune of 2,000+ cases. Many of those are already spoken for though so if you want some, call up the brewery.
