Beer notes: Ballast Point Dorado, Avery Sixteen, Dark Horse 3 Guys, New Holland

ballast-point-dorado

Ballast Point Brewing recently re-released Dorado Double IPA for the first time in over a year. The beer has already come and gone in some locations but its reach extends to states far from the small California brewery like Illinois and North Carolina. It is worth calling around to your local stores if Ballast Point beers are carried in your state.

From Avery Brewing’s latest newsletter, it was revealed that this year’s Continue reading

Lost Abbey The Angels Share and Avery Brabant can be found online

lost-abbey-angels-share-bourbon-barrel-thumb-83-100 avery-brabant-thumb-100-084 No matter how much I want to, I can never seem to keep up with this part of the site though work is freeing up now so it should only get better…

South Bay Drugs has a little bit of Lost Abbey The Angel’s Share Brandy Barrel left as well as some Ballast Point Dorado Double IPA. I’m guessing there is less than a case or two remaining on the Angel’s Share. Note: anyone ordering it must put it in the cellar for a few months or so to let it properly condition/carbonate in the bottle.

The Wine and Cheese Place may have some Avery Brabant left. Again, this is hard to come by; only 694 cases were produced according to the site.

Captain Lawrence coming out with two more sours

captain-lawrence-little-lindas-liquid

[Per comment below, Little Liquid won't be announced as it's more limited than a typical release and Flaming Fury won't come until summer]

(Pleasantville, NY) – Captain Lawrence Brewing has a couple more beers in the works for 2009 release. These label approvals are fresh from today so no release info yet (Owner/Brewer, Scott Vaccaro, generally sends out an email a week or two before). That said, the buzz on Beer Advocate is that there is another beer release event to come before the Anniversary Party on May 16 which is the weekend after Mother’s Day.

Another top 50 beer may hit the USA

dieu-du-ciel-aphrodite

(St. Jerome, CANADA) – The fact that

Dieu du Ciel Aphrodite

got label approval doesn’t mean for sure that it will arrive in the U.S. Nevertheless, it sounds promising that this beer will make it over. Aphrodite, known in Greek Mythology as the Goddess of Love, is an alias for another ale from Dieu du Ciel known as Aphrodisiaque. Beer reviews currently put it in the #52 slot at RateBeer. Here is the lowdown from President, Stéphane Ostiguy, followed by some info on the beer itself:
