i just got an Upstream Oak Aged IPA. i was wondering how these come out. how well does an IPA age really? even if it is on oak.

Three Floyds puts out Blackheart annually, it’s an oak aged double IPA. They call it a “UK IPA,” but at like 9% and around 90IBUs, I’d call it a double.

Plus, it’s retarded good. Hoping that Southern Tier’s attempts are comparable, because oak on hops can work very nicely.

Hoppin Frog Mean Menachi checks in at 167 ibus i think.Russian river pliney the Younger and Moylans triple IPA as WELL as FOUNDERS DEVIL DANCER are bordering on 200 ibu’s.As far as oak aged IPA;S Shorts brewing has a couple.

DFH Burton Baton would definitely qualify as an oak-aged Double IPA, but it’s not exactly oak-aged 90min. It’s a blend of 90min. and something else – don’t remember what at the moment.

A few years back Dominion had a really nice oak-aged IPA, and there have been several for tastings at the EBF Night of the Barrels.

If I’m not mistaken, though, Burton Baton is the only one that’s regularly bottled.

I have liked most of the oak-aged IPAs I’ve tried… they tend to have a really dry taste and finish. And I suspect UnEarthly will really do well on oak.

DFH Burton Baton is oak-aged 90 Min (I think it might only be partially, but I’m not entirely sure). It was hot when I tried it fresh, haven’t aged it at all.

I’ve had oak-aged 120 Min, which was absolutely fantastic, but nothing like an IPA.

I’m looking forward to the oak-aged Unearthly.
